Amatola Irrigation saves water and time at Morgan Bay Hotel
The Hotel Management were finding that it took one gardener a whole day to water the 1000m2 hotel gardens with a hose pipe. This was a costly and resource inefficient exercise. It also often resulted in some areas being flooded while others received too little water.
They called in the irrigation experts from Amatola Irrigation who designed a much more effective and cost efficient drip irrigation system, which has resulted in the whole garden being evenly irrigated in just 4 hours.
In addition to being an even method of distributing water across the whole garden area, drip irrigation reduces evaporation and the impact of wind on watering.
The Morgan Bay Hotel garden system is designed using 900m of 16mm brown drip pipe (to blend with the soil), regulators on valves to reduce the municipal pressure, and water pressure compensating spacing to ensure that each dripper gives the same amount of water.
The gardener’s time is now freed up for more productive tasks such as cleaning and weeding while the irrigation is self-running.
