Amatola Irrigation brings landscaping designs to life

This month we present a testimonial from one of our long-standing landscape gardening partners – Lauren Marais of Indula Landscaping.
Lauren recently completed a project for Avalon Gardens where she was tasked with constructing a wall for signage and with landscaping the entrance to the estate with an upmarket garden, designed with low growing plants to retain visibility of the signage.
The client also required screening for the houses along the boundary walls.
The design combines lower growing plants and ground covers to form swathes of different textures, foliage colour and seasonal colour creating a lush and soft feel to the entrance, while three feature Syzygium guineense trees create a focal point to frame the signage wall.
Sweet Viburnum plants were planted along both boundary walls to establish a screening hedge to prevent the houses from being visible from the road.
Amatola Irrigation was called in to design an automated irrigation system with pop up sprayers to ensure the watering requirements for all of the landscaping were met and that the conceptual design would be realised. Len Moerdyk, Amatola Irrigation Design Specialist says, “We installed automated Rain Bird rotor pop ups and variable arc pop ups to ensure maximum coverage. We chose to install the Bermad Green wireless solenoid controller which can be managed via an application on a cellphone as there was no electricity supply available at the valve positions.
Lauren says, “Although all the plants selected for this project are hardy and water wise; consistent watering plays a vital role in ensuring that the plants grow well.
